About

David Morris was born in Springfield, Ohio in 1969 and received undergraduate and graduate education at Washington University in St. Louis and Northwestern University respectively. He uses charcoal, graphite and oil paint to describe his experience of having been in the presence of another person. While he enjoys anatomical study, he searches beyond the structural component of a figure in hopes of understanding something about that person’s experience at a given point in time. He organizes elements of design and focus so as to share with the viewer the aspect of humanity that captivated him when he was with that person portrayed in the work. David has participated in multiple group shows and has taught seminars dealing with anatomical study. He lives and works in Chicago.
